'Jubilee' Passing Derby Junction Signal Box, Winter.

William Stanier designed the Jubilee Class Locomotive used for passenger trains. It was built at the LMS Crewe and Derby Works from 1934 - 1936. The power and movement of a steam train in full flight has been captured in this watercolour by the accomplished Crown Derby porcelain painter.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Michael Crawley

20C artist Michael Crawley is well documented as working for 'Royal Crown Derby' and his designs have appeared frequently on their products. He is one of the artists who have been noted for their work in the Derby Porcelain International Society. He often used his own landscapes and flower paintings as designs on porcelain.  During his time at Royal Crown Derby he was responsible for decorating a series of dinner plates and a cream jug presented to HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother on the occasion of her visit to the Royal Crown Derby factory in 1971. In 1974 he painted six plates with Derbyshire scenes which were presented to HRH Princess Anne when she visited Royal Crown Derby.
