Artist in oil on cotton on paper and watercolour, born and lived in London. Hanley became a full time artist in his 50s following a career in journalism. Studied at Central School of Art London and was influenced by Ben Nicholson and Morandi. Among Hanley's many mixed show appearances were AIA Gallery, St Pancras and Camden Festivals, Tib Lane Gallery in Manchester, RA Summer Exhibitions, Phoenix Gallery in Lavenham an Thackeray Gallery in Cambridge, Phoenix Gallery and Bronwen White Gallery in New Orleans. In 1964 Hanley made illustrations for a limited edition of Face of winter by James Hanley, his father.
