Wonderful oil painting of a fishing scene on the North East coast, possibly Boulmer. Paintings by this Northumbrian artist are quite rare to the market and this one is certainly a beautiful example of his work.
Oil on canvas 11" x 15" singed and dated 1912
Born in South Shields, studied at the School of Art there. He travelled extensively through Europe and Russia. Became the war artist for The Graphic during WWI. The Imperial War Museum acquired his painting titled A Ration Party, and the British Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum holds examples. Showed with Aitken Dott in Edinburgh, also Fine Art Society and RSA. Further reading can be found in The Artists of Northumbria by Marshall Hall.
