Sophie Manns
Lochranza Castle, Isle of Arran, Scotland

Lochranza castle was built as a hall-house in the late 1200s. Now a ruin, the L-shaped castle sits on a spit of land that extends into Lochranza and dominates the view from the village. I painted the castle at sunset, the colours of the sky and the castle are reflected in the calm loch.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Sophie Manns

We are delighted to welcome Sophie Manns to the Wallington Gallery, a talented young artist who describes her work as follows;

I am a local artist, who recently graduated in fine art from Leeds Arts University. Inspired by the dramatic Northumberland landscapes, I strive to capture the power, awe and wonder of the countryside and coastline through painting. I am heavily influenced by JMW Turner and the Sublime. I use oil and acrylic paint to create realism/abstract contemporary landscape paintings.

Exhibitions: Fronteer Open exhibition, Sheffield, December 2021.
