We are delighted to welcome a very talented, local artist, Susan Nicholson to The Wallington Gallery
A self-taught artist, born and raised in beautiful Northumberland, in a small mining village, where she still lives today with her childhood sweetheart, (now husband).
On leaving school Susan dreamt of going to art college, but her parents insisted that she did business studies at college, instead. Susan worked in an office for the next 8 years, until she left and began her family. Art was put aside as she raised her boys and it was not until some years later, that she once again picked up a brush and the enthusiasm and love of art returned immediately.
Susan painted for fun and relaxation but then she opened her own shop dealing in craft materials and artist materials included, which she ran very happily for 3 years, until she had to close due to health problems.
In 2017, after the death of her parents, Susan began painting again which helped her to cope with her bereavement as they both loved her art.
Working from home, Susan endeavours to capture and immortalise the ever changing beauty of Northumberland and the many wonderful places she has visited and imagined. Susan works mainly in Acrylic, oil and pastel, painting a variety of scenes and subject matter, but she especially loves to paint trees and landscapes, being inspired by the beautiful countryside and nature that surrounds her..
Commissions undertaken, a few of which have been pet portraits and sea paintings.
Limited edition prints are also available, in either digital or giclee.
