William Davies was a painter in oil who was born in South Wales. He served in the Royal Navy until 1962 and was noted for his fluentt, on the spot paintings of London, Venice and other marine subjects. Whilst in London,he painted from life over several years at the Royal Acadamy of Music. He was a member of The Wapping Group and exhibited his work widely including at ROI and RMSA. Lloyds of London used one of his River Thames scenes on its calendar.
He lived at West Hyde, Hertfordshire.
