Born Penbury, Kent, 1 May. Oil painter and mural decorator. Educated at Oakdene School, studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts, 1938 – 1941, Chelsea School of Art and Edinburgh College of Art. Married to the sculptor Eric Schilsky. Employed by the Directorate of Camouflage during the War. Influenced by the early Florentines and Piero della Francesca, by her husband, by William Gillies and through her friendships with Anne Redpath and John Maxwell. Best known for her depiction of Scottish landscape, often with cattle and as a setting for people, and for her portraits; fond of portraying biblical scenes. Lived in Edinburgh. Exhibited extensively RA, RSA and elsewhere.
