ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Roland Batchelor (1889 - 1990)

Batchelor was born in London and painted in watercolour but was also a draughtsman and printmaker. He started to paint as a child but worked as a Civil Servant as his father insisted on him having a steady job. In his spare time he studied and painted , learning from George Morrow at Putney School of Art and after serving in WWI continued to study at Regent Street Polytechnic School of Art under Harry Watson. He was a regular exhibitor at RA and RWS. Batchelor was a fluent French speaker who loved working in France. Victoria and Albert Museum holds his work.
