We are delighted to welcome Kevin Day to The Wallington Gallery, one of the best known artists working in North East today. A path was set from a young age when Kevin started to paint and draw, nourished by his grandfather and mother. Although it wouldn't be till years later that he could fulfil what was an inevitable career. Using mostly oil and charcoal his subjects vary but with one common propose which is to produce work that is a response to the light and feel of a moment and communicate this with the viewer. More commonly known for figurative narrative works which have gained him success and collectors as far afield as Australia, Italy and USA. He also prefers to work as his influences did such as Sargent, Anders Zorn and paint everything around him whether it be a mountain scene painted on site or a cup on a table. Most of which maybe don't make it to exhibition, the point being that it becomes an addictive practice in capturing light and feel of a scene and convert onto a rectangular blank space (canvas). Never satisfied or ever complacent he always practices this being driven by capturing the world around.
