Painter of landscape and coastal scenes,born in Leeds. Studied at Academie Julian, Paris and at Academie Royale des Beaux - Arts in Antwerp. Worked in Netherlands, where he was influenced by local landscape painters. From about 1910 he worked in various locations in Dorset, dying at Parkstone after prolonged ill health. Showed prolifically at RA, Fine Art Society, Goupil Gallery. Tate Gallery holds his work.
