Markus Newman (b.1970)

We are delighted to welcome Markus Newman to The Wallington Gallery. Born 1970 in Staffordshire, England he is currently residing in Mallorca Spain.

We are sure that his work will prove very popular.

He describes himself and his work as follows;

I could go on and tell you that I'm self taught, and although I've always been able to draw, I have only been painting for a few years, or that I come from a broken background, or have no art grades from school etc. but I don't think that's important. I believe that true art, like rhythm, cannot really be taught. Art is something that lies deep within, something locked inside the core, and I guess I'm just trying to bring mine to the surface. 

My inspiration comes from romance and nature. I feel what I see, and I paint what I feel. In my work I seek to complement the moments I encounter. I attempt to break life down into its visual essentials: light, dark, balance, movement, tone. In doing so perhaps I can reveal a new perspective. I enjoy capturing the essence of a moment, and will often work on a few projects simultaneously.
 I'm often undertaking regular portrait commissions for private clients including pet portraits, and I have done numerous murals for venues such as hotels, bars & restaurants, spa's, and private residence. I work mostly with Acrylics.
