Sigvard Hansen was born in Copenhagen and spent some time in his early career travelling and painting country scenes on porcelain to gain experience. He began exhibiting his work in 1882, and exhibited widely, at the Royal Academy, London, L’Exposition de L’ Academie in Paris, The British Art Society, and the Palais de Glace in Munich. The Musee d’Aarhus et Ribe (Jutland) has several of his works in their permanent collection.
